The Taylorsville City Council has created a committee to explore the upcoming November vote on whether the city should join the Unified Fire Service Area. (The District)
The committee is composed of two residents from each City Council district. The committee has met and has gathered the information that is found on this web site.
The council voted last summer to join the Unified Fire Service Area (The District), but residents who disagreed with the decision gathered enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot. The election will be held on November 5th. If Taylorsville City does not join the fire district the other options are to continue contracting with the unified fire authority or establishing an independent fire department.
The committee has looked at costs and service protocols of joining the district. Here we will outline the pro's and con's of each option.
